About Vidhan's Shopy

Vidhan's Shopy was born from a deep love for Indian tradition—especially the timeless beauty of Ilkal sarees.

​

I’m Vijayanand Bhalerao, a Mechanical Engineer by education and an MBA in Marketing by profession, currently based in Pune, Maharashtra. But more than my degrees, what truly defines this journey is my deep connection to our culture and roots. Growing up, I watched the women in our village proudly wear Ilkal sarees—simple, elegant, and full of identity. For us, an Ilkal saree was never just a garment. It was a symbol of tradition, dignity, and being truly Marathi.

Many times, just by seeing an Ilkal saree, you can recognize a Marathi woman. That cultural connection stayed with me. And that’s where this journey began—with a dream to keep this beautiful tradition alive for the new generation.

Ilkal sarees have a rich heritage, loved not only in Maharashtra but also across parts of Karnataka, where they are traditionally woven in North Karnataka. The craftsmanship, the distinctive pallu, the durability, and the grace of these sarees make them truly special. We believe such heritage should not fade with time—it should be worn, celebrated, and passed on.

My wife, Priyanka Bhalerao, and I started Vidhan's Shopy with a simple but strong mission:

Priyanka, a homemaker, has been a constant support and an important part of this journey. Together, we personally focus on selecting sarees that reflect genuine craftsmanship, comfort, and tradition—whether it’s Ilkal, Narayanpeth, Gadwal, Paithani, Khan sarees, or other beautiful weaves from our heritage.
